All responsible organisations know they have to comply with the oil storage, liquid handling, drainage and disposal regulations and take all necessary steps to prevent pollution. Many companies don’t possess sufficient specialist knowledge or resources to assess their problems and make informed decisions or simply prefer to call in the experts from the outset.

PPL’s regular clients include health authorities; bus, rail and haulage operators; prisons; banks; government; military and public & private companies, large and small. The main concern of the environment agencies is pollution from oil so this is where PPL’s common sense, hands-on approach is often of most benefit to clients.

As the environmental services division of Queen’s Award winning Andel Ltd., PPL offers a complete package of inspection, testing, consultancy, remediation, product supply and installation. Being part of a larger manufacturing group PPL has first-hand knowledge of the pressures and problems that increasing regulation place upon us all. The company’s range of products, services and expertise has grown over the years into a package capable of dealing with all aspects of liquid pollution prevention.

The “Pollution Prevention” process usually starts with an initial compliance inspection. The aim of this inspection is to take a detailed “snapshot” of the site using PPL’s own thorough, step-by-step investigation regime. The client is provided with a fully detailed, comprehensive report highlighting, and prioritising any immediate problems and concerns, providing budgeted costings for remedial works and a “road-map” to compliance with the law. The client can use the report as evidence of due diligence if required or as a base for quotations for remedial works by any other supplier or contractor. The PPL compliance inspection is recognised as an essential tool and must not be confused with so-called “free surveys” which often gloss over the real issues and are simply an attempt to sell further services.
